I was delighted to have the opportunity to try out an entree from Applebee's new Under 550 Calorie menu yesterday! If you are watching your calorie intake, but still seeking flavorful meals that will fill you up, then you need to try this menu out! There are 5 yummy entrees to choose from. They include the Teriyaki Shrimp Pasta, Grilled Shrimp and Island Rice, Grilled Dijon Chicken and Portobellos, Asiago Peppercorn Steak, and the Signature Sirloin with Garlic Herb Shrimp. Mmmm....I'm getting hungry just looking at those!
The one I chose to try was the Signature Sirloin with Garlic Herb Shrimp. They all sounded really tasty, but I am a shrimp lover so this is what I chose. It is a 7 oz sirloin grilled and topped with succulent shrimp in a light cream sauce served w/ herb potatoes, seasonal vegetables, fresh bruschetta, sliced almonds, and chopped parsley.
I don't know about you but when I think low-calorie a lot of times I think the flavor is going to be sacrificed. Not so with this dish. I was pleasantly surprised with the great flavors. I especially liked the cream Sauce and sliced almonds on the steak.
The portion size was great too. It takes a lot to fill me up and this held me over all afternoon.
There really was nothing I didn't like about this entree.
They also have a line of Skinny Bee cocktails (which I could not try cuz I had my baby in tow and was driving!), including a Margarita, Long Island Iced Tea, and Mojito-each of which is less than 120 calories!
