Thoughts for Thursday by Emily Farmer

Pride
Pride. It's so easy to be prideful isn't it? Its one of the roots of all evil. There are tons of verses on pride. As a mother of three is so easy to be proud of your children. But then that gentle yet subtle nudge comes and the Holy Spirit reminds you that it's not about you but, God and we should not steal HIS Glory with our prideful ways. As Prov. 11:2 says "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." I have found that to be so true. When I sit humbly before God my pride just goes right out the window and I am filled with wisdom on how to praise HIM for what he has done. It's amazing if only you will stop to listen to scripture speak to you.
Our middle son, as I have shared in a past post, took the step of faith and this past weekend and he was baptized. We were so proud of him and his decision. A very important and grown up decision at the age of 7 years old. How could we not be proud? Well I have to say it was very hard not to be but, in all the excitement we Praised our Heavenly Father and thanked HIM for allowing this to happen. The next time you find yourself being prideful stop and humble yourself before our Heavenly Father and tell HIM you are grateful for all HE gives. You will be surprised at the wisdom you get from the process. God is a GOOD God and he wants the very best for us if only we will accept it.

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

"Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else." Galatians

"Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.” Dan.4:37 (NLT)
