A Proud Moment......

Share

I normally don't post on Saturdays, but I have to share this. You may have seen this on the news. It is a story about my cousin, Truman Duncan.

I had just seen Truman at my Father's funeral in December of 2005. 6 months later, I was eating lunch, when I received a phone call that my cousin, Truman, had been in an accident at the rail yard he works at, and had been practically cut in half.

In the months that followed we prayed diligently, sent goody baskets his way, and waited. Amazingly enough, he came through. God answered our prayers, and must have something in store for him! He turned down opportunities to be on National television shows...until recently. He has come forward and shared his story of inspiration.

The following is a news story that aired on 20/20 last night about Truman. I must say, I am proud to be his cousin, and get homesick every time I see his face! :)

Such an amazing man! It is interesting how the mind can will you to live.

I to survived a horrific accident when I was 13 yrs. old. I was run over by a motor boat while sitting as a passenger in another moving boat. I basically should have died a couple of times between Lake Shasta and Redding CA It took them 2 1/2 hrs. to get me to the hospital.

I made it and they also saved my Left arm as it was hanging by a thread. I was left handed and now I am right handed. Had years of PT,OT and a ton of surgeries 20 total. Eventually, in college I went in to Occupational Therapy to become an OTR.

The accident was a blessing in itself. My relationship with God became so much stronger because of it.

Thank you for sharing with us. Hugs to your cousin!

:) Jody

My husband and I watched the story on 20/20. My husband was disabled in an accident about 10 years ago. Your life can change in an instant. It's the people in your life that matter. Our prayers are with Truman.
