Friday's Feature -The Spotted Box

I would like to introduce you to Tory from The Spotted Box. I came across this site and thought it was a great idea! If you have not heard of The Spotted Box, here is how it works.

The Spotted Box is a collective box of family-oriented, eco-friendly samples and gift certificates from independent crafters, all packaged together and sent directly to you! Designed with the young family in mind; these handmade samples are focused on children and their mothers.

The Box includes at least natural-parenting samples from your favorite independent businesses. Includes at least 25 natural-parenting samples and gift certificates from your favorite independent artisans. The handmade samples can include toys, gift tags, tarts, candy, diaper pail deodorizer, soap samples, stationary, wipes, wool, sachets, art, stickers, hats, bookmarks, bags, hair clips, play food, magnets, perfume, balms, photo prints, jewelry, play dough, key chains, crayons, bows, yarn, patterns, diapering accessories, pins, appliqu├ęs, greeting cards, lotion samples, natural cleaners and detergents, bath products, decals, pet items and treats, gift certificates, homeschooling curriculum and more! Each box contains at least 25 different samples and gift certificates from some of the vendors named in the box listings. The boxes are each unique and contains some of the items listed.

And when I asked Tory what inspired her to start The Spotted Box here is what she had to say:

"In 2007 I was an artisan soapmaker and mother of three young children and created the Spotted Box in an effort to bring more recognition to the eco-friendly artisan products I and other work-at-home businesses were creating. I knew that if consumers could only see these products, they would fall in love! The Spotted Box debuted on Hyena Cart in September 2007 then expanded to Etsy in July 2008. It is a high-demand item that sells out in minutes on both e-commerce sites. The businesses providing samples for the Spotted Box are independent artisans most of whom are mothers themselves. It was created as a marketing tool for small crafting businesses and continues to support companies creating handmade items for the young family. The Spotted Box provides unique advertising and builds a community of artisans who discuss and vote on the Box’s guidelines and future direction."

What a neat and original idea! The Spotted Box can also be found on my "Christmas @ The Gift Closet" page and look for a giveaway coming soon from them as well!!
