Hope you had a good weekend!
Fall is certainly in the air here in GA & I am lovin' it! I love the cooler weather, the pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating, etc......everything that comes along with Fall.
What I don't love right now is the state of our economy. Can I get an Amen on that?? Here in my small corner of the world, our gas is mostly supplied from the Gulf & thanks to Hurricane Ike we are suffering from a gas shortage here. A friend of mine said she had 1/8 tank of gas left and passed 4 gas stations on the way to church yesterday morning that were out of gas! And if you are lucky enough to find a gas station with gas around here, its over $4 per gallon! Now that is getting a little bit scary if I do say so myself!
Being a SAHM on a single family income, we are trying to live on the "conservative" side right now. You know, carpooling, combining trips, staying home more...argh! I am a people person and staying home a lot does not work well for me! Maybe that's why I've turned to blogging so much...that's my way of "getting out" and seeing what's going on in the world around me. Anyone else in the same boat?
Speaking of the blogging world, I am sure a lot of you have read on various blogs about Nie Recovery. You can read about their story here: Nie Recovery . Long story short, at church today another friend of mine who doesn't do a whole lot of blogging mentioned this story and how she heard bloggers had raised over $100,000 for this family. Now what kind of amazing community of bloggers is that! Makes me proud to be a part of the blogosphere, that's for sure! My thought & prayers continue to be with this family.
So, what does all this rambling have to do with Make It Monday you ask? Well, my question for you is this. I want to know what you are doing to "make it" in the current state of our lovely economy right now? Please show me some comment love and share with us any money saving, frugal-living tips you may have. Considering I currently have over 100 entries on my current contest, I know someone is reading my little blog here, so go ahead and share your tips!
And as always, if you have something you'd like to give away on Win It Wednesday, please send me an email by clicking on "email me" on the right side of this page.
Have a Happy Monday & see you tomorrow for Tuesday's Tip!

We have been making small changes here and there to save money. Things like changing our gym membership from family to just couple since none of our boys were going anyhow. We also stopped our blockbuster monthly plan and have been using redbox instead since its only a dollar a movie!! And I regularly try to cut back use of lights, make sure we have a full load when we do laundry, have the boys ride bikes to friends instead of driving them if its close by.
Thanks for the tips Roxanne! I've never heard of Redbox...I need to check it out! Thanks for sharing!
We are doing things like staying home more than we used to. Buying what we can online without riving out to get it. Selling books that we don't need. Opening the windows for cool air and I only shower every two days! Oh wait, that has nothing to do with conserving and everything to do with my baby.
We are cutting back on any unnecessary purchases we rent dvds, games for the kids. We don't go to movies we do more outdoor stuff like, fishing. Car pooling to school, I am a stay home mom therefore I schedule all errands into one or two days to avoid using vehicle everyday. I try to make as many left turns as possible to save gas. We removed picture mail and internet access and cancelled my wireless card from our cell phones to cut our cell phone bill(80.00 monthly). Try to make payments is a timely manner to avoids extra fees. Pay bills online, I recently started selling my crafts and jewelry online for extra income. We patrol the lights in the house, change a/c filters one time, we changed eletricity carriers from 23/26 cents to 15 cents per kilowatts used. Everyone should review their electricity bill some companies are charging an overage fee(if you used more than a limit you get charged extra). We clean out the garage, shed and attic more often and if we find something that is not being used frequently we sell it to maybe buy something we do need.
