A Mother's Love
By Guest Blogger Emily Farmer
The past week I have been nursing sick boys while not feeling so good myself. As mothers we face some tough times and that's not always easy. But, with God's strength we can handle anything. 1 Cor. 10:13 Says "God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear." God made mothers strong to handle all things that are dropped in front of them. Even when "we are weak He is strong" in us. 2 Cor. 12:10 NIV
A few years ago I heard Isaiah 40:11 broken down into some nuggets worth holding on to. It was described as God's Special Attention for Mothers. So of course it caught my attention being a mother. Here's what I learned. God is always present for us and we as mothers need to be present for our children. God tends to us , gathers us in His arms, carries us close to his heart and gently leads us mothers that have young children. Those who believe in Him as their personal savior are called His children or flock. I love that! These four things we can carry into our everyday nurturing of our children. This is how we are to do it. We need to first tend to our children and their every need especially when it involves harm or illness. Second carry our children, we pray for them, love them and physically carry them if they are sick or tired. Third we need to hold our children and let them feel the love of God that makes them feel secure. The last thing we are to do is lead our children. Lead them in the direction to make right decisions and right paths to follow. These are all the things that God gives and shows to us so we are to model his example and do the same for our children. When you follow this example it's so much easier to love your little ones even when they do get under your skin.
Challenge:
Really meditate on this verse today and allow our loving God to speak to you. Then show that love and care to your children.
Isa. 40:11 " He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart; He gently leads those that have young." NIV
