I was recently at a friend's house and she had the cutest little wooden play set. It was a wooden birthday cake w/ candles, play knives for cutting, etc. She said her kids loved it & my kids did too! Well, lo & behold, I was contacted & had the pleasure of reviewing a play food set last week from Melissa and Doug as well. And I have 1 to giveaway too!

I was able to select from one of the Melissa and Doug Food Play sets. My daughter chose the Slice and Bake Cookie Set and couldn't wait for it to arrive. This colorful wooden set includes 12 wooden, sliceable cookies and 12 toppings, wooden knife, spatula, cookie sheet and a kitchen mitt for safe play! The cookies store in a durable dough tube.

What we like about it:
1. My daughter loves everything about it! She is 6 years old & my 3 year old son has enjoyed playing with it as well. They played with it non-stop for 2 days after receiving it.
2. My son said he likes to play "swords" with the wooden knife & spatula.
3. No hard edges, extremely durable, non-breakable!
4. Very cute & lots of fun for the kids!
What we didn't like about it:
1. They have already lost a couple of the pieces because the cookies have removable velcro icing that comes off. I just hope we can keep up with the entire set, but that's not really a negative. It is really a great & durable toy. I would definitely purchase it!

I LOVE all their classic games like jacks, pickup sticks, chinese checkers, marbles, etc! It brings me back to my childhood and all look so beautifully crafted!
My favorite summer activity is the pool! Not only does it bring back my awesome summer memories from my childhood, I want my children to grow up to be water babies as well!

I don't live near my sisters and my favorite activity is when they come to visit me for their summer vacation! My sister was here recently and her kids could not get enough of my Melissa and Doug food cutting set. The best part is that my sister's name is Melissa! My favorite summer activity is swimming with my kids. It is too hot not to swim every day- they love it and I love it.
I love the Victorian dollhouses and stables because I love watching children use their imaginations. Some of the things they come up with just crack me up.
My favorite summertime activity is going camping. And not the type of camping that includes the whole family. I like camping with Hubby or camping with some friends, just being yourself.
My favorite thing from their site is all the arts and craft kits! So fun! my daughter loves doing those sort of things!

Another item that I love is the Victorian Dollhouse. My kids are into that make believe play stage and they love playing with their dolls. This doll house would be a great for them.

Oh my, we have that cake with candles you are talking about and it is the cutest thing ever. My daughter calls it Happy Cake (she is two so it is pretty cute). This set is too stinkin cute, if we don't win this we will have to buy a set because Laci would love to play with it in her little kitchen.
