Congrats ladies!

I know with this economy we are all trying to be better about spending & saving & managing money. Something that is a "splurge" financially, but necessary for a good healthy marriage relationship (especially with small kids running around), is a date night!

My hubby & I used to try to have 1 date night a month, but haven't been able to do that in a while. I found that by the time we pay a sitter $25ish, go out to dinner, and even a movie, we're talking about dropping over $75 on a date!

So, if you are one of those couples that needs a date night, but doesn't want to spend a lot of money on it, this post is for you!

I am going to share some good ideas my hubby & I have done, some I have read, and I am hoping you will leave a comment with your unique & affordable date night idea!

Here are a few:
1. Local Art Walk
2. Browse Antique Stores
3. Get "lost" on a trip in the country!
4. Have a date at home. Set the table w/ candles, crystal glasses, music, a nice meal & dessert! You can even do this after the kids are in bed. No talk of money, debt, or children!
5. Order takeout & play games.
6. My tip: After the kids are in bed, I like to take a hot bath, slip into my pj's, and my hubby & I watch movies in the basement...or whatever is tivoed. That is "our" time that we protect..try not to talk on the phone...play on the computer, etc. That's our "date" time each night.

My daughter took this pic of my hubby & I @ Disney World......

What is your idea of a date night?

We've started swapping kids with friends. This way, we save on the sitter (that costs a lot more than $25 for us).

We're totally in the same boat... sitters are expensive, and we love to go out to a movie, and to dinner. We've started getting movies from Netflix, and just having our time when the kids are in bed. (It's relaxing to just stay home together:)
Great Ideas Heather!

great ideas - i love the art walk one! i think i'll do that with my boyfriend when he comes back from his deployment.
another good idea for a saturday afternoon 'date' since the weather's getting warm would be a picnic at the park. pack a lunch, or get some takeout/fast food, have a picnic at the park, take a walk, play some frisbee, lay out on the blanket, just enjoying each other's company.
cheesy, but fun! =P
